Storyline

Perhaps from another point of view or from a continuing dialogue on the subject, I would offer you the following:

I feel as if I have lived three lives. I only wish I could find a way to let you hear what I hear, as I have explored God’s creation through music in the poetic diversity that has motivated me throughout my life as a songwriter and a purveyor of the Gospel.

I like to think that there is something unique about my experiences and the way, by which I am expressing those experiences to you… my new journeying faith-friend. In fact, you might even perceive presumption on my part. But I realize that as I have been blessed by many other artists in my career, and of late, even mysterious events, I am actually embarking on a journey of my own.

This website entitled, The McKenzie Project, is offered up to you as a means of expressing my faith and love for Christ in a way that hopefully encourages you and honors God. The story I am about to tell you stems from an experience that I can’t as of yet explain, but it gives way to many promises of God that together we can draw upon in navigating the highways and backroads of life. This site and its expanding body of content will facilitate our mutual exploration of faith, science, and sociology as I have come to understand the essence of such matters.

In and around 1981 I was busy building our studio and production operation known as The Master’s Workshop. Thanks to God, I was enjoying considerable success across Canada and elsewhere. We operated the studio like a production company, incorporating into our ethos a full production team commonly known as “The Studio Band”. By design, “The Studio Band”, was comprised of highly gifted and spiritually committed artists, who with myself were able to bless hundreds of other ministries with musical excellence and empowered acumen. Studio hours were commonly “long hours”, and it’s entirely possible what I have now discovered could have emerged in the absence of the professionals, who in part made up our team.

Let me explain, it now is apparent that many of the songs that I had been writing during this time, were written for the purpose of demonstrating the songs to other artists. Perhaps the traditionally moderate response to such “pitches” may have thrown us off the trail and distracted us. But even that reality could not explain away the long-term whereabouts of twenty-three original, contemporary Christian songs. Which I discovered just recently, forty years later, amongst the storage bins being reorganized in the garage of my Niagara home. Were that not enough to spur me to the action you see before you, I preceded to transfer the songs in question from analog to digital, a restorative undertaking that risks total destruction of the antique masters. I also was skeptical that regardless of climate conditions, a forty-year-old master’s tape had little chance of survival. I was wrong. From the moment we began playing the twenty-three songs of the subject matter, it was obvious we were in for a pleasant surprise.

What we discovered might by some be considered miraculous or at the very least highly unusual. Evidentially, forty years hence, I can only surmise that I commissioned one of our engineers in the name of posterity to work with me into the night performing voice and guitar tracks. The net results appear to have been twenty-three new songs that as I now write have yet to be heard in the modern day. So let us explore how this prospect came about.

In the pages of this website, I reveal seven of the twenty-three songs resurrected by this process and here now available to you in an exclusive preview offering. This is a brand-new project and your opinion is very important to me. I am pleased to give you an opportunity to respond to the music and to the concept. If you would kindly provide me with your coordinates, I will ensure that you receive follow-up detail regarding the project, including, an expansion of the Storyline commentary featuring my life story in ministry.

At the risk of sounding grandiose, I want you to know that I have on many occasions in my life heard His voice (figuratively) and pursued His calling for the sake of God’s kingdom. Here again, is an unusual pursuit of His truth and I am no less than inspired than on any other occasion when I’ve trusted Him. There are many things that are being considered for The McKenzie Project and I hope you are able to take advantage of them as you consider the first steps in this membership. May you be blessed eternally and may others be blessed by your expanding ministry,

Doug John McKenzie
